One of the most common questions we get, from beginners and experienced dancers alike, is about heel height. How high is too high? Is lower always safer? Does it depend on the dance? The honest answer: it depends on several things. Let's walk through it.

Lower Heels (5.5–6.5 cm): The Lisadore Comfort Range

Our Altura (5.5 cm) and Abasso (6.5 cm) models are perfect if you're newer to dancing, if you have knee or ankle concerns, or if you simply prefer a more grounded feel under your feet. These heels are also fantastic for Salsa and Kizomba, where you might be dancing for several hours and really need your feet to still be functional at midnight. Do not underestimate how gorgeous these look - lower does not mean boring.

Mid Heels (7.5–8 cm): The Sweet Spot

For many dancers, 7.5 to 8 cm is the magic zone. High enough to create the posture and line you want on the dance floor, manageable enough for a long evening of dancing. This is where the majority of our Lisadore Classic range sits, and it's the most popular choice for good reason.

High Heels (8.5–9.5 cm): For The Committed

Comme il Faut is famous for its dramatic high heels - and for good reason. At 8.5 to 9.5 cm, the shoe creates an extraordinary line and posture. These are the heels you see in the milongas of Buenos Aires, in tango shows, in competitions. They require a well-trained foot and a well-made shoe - because at this height, the quality of construction becomes absolutely critical to your stability and comfort. This is not the territory for cheap shoes.

Our Honest Advice

Start at a height where you feel completely confident and comfortable. Build from there. And always, always invest in quality before height. A well-made 7 cm heel will serve you better than a cheap 9 cm heel every single time. Any questions? We're always happy to help you choose!
